Mental Health Advocacy

The project provides free, independent support and assistance to people who use mental health services in South Gloucestershire. We can offer people assistance to get their voice heard and their rights addressed on all sorts of issues such as housing, medication and benefits.

How do we work?

We can offer different levels of support, from advice about self-advocacy through to trained volunteer advocates and professional advocacy. We support you to look at different options and possible outcomes so you can make informed choices about what action you could take. We work to ensure people can represent their own interests as far as possible and not to offer advice on how we think an individual should act.

How do we do this?

Please contact the Mental Health Advocate to discuss your particular situation and find out what support we could offer you.

There is also a weekly drop-in session at Oakwood Ward in Southmead Hopital for clients who are in hospital due to mental health problems. Please contact the Mental Health Advocate for more information.
