Advocacy
You can become a volunteer advocate for 3 of our services. These are Complaints Advocacy, Generic Advocacy and Mental Health Advocacy.
Being an advocate involves working with a wide variety of clients, including people with learning difficulties, people with mental health issues, older people, carers and people with physical and sensory impairments. Advocacy involves helping your client get their message across to an organisation that has some decision making power that could affect them. You might be helping someone ask for services, or for something to be done different, or even making a complaint.
Being a volunteer advocate can take up to as little as 2 hours a week of your time, or if you’re really keen up to 6 hours a week!! As a volunteer advocate you will have the opportunity to work one on one with a client, write letters, attend meetings and make telephone calls.
If are a little uncertain about volunteering, please still get in contact with our volunteer coordinator who will be able to discuss with you any concerns you have and further explain the volunteering roles.
