The New Year began with the Department of Health (DH) announcing that an extra £150 million would be available to local authorities to help people leave hospital more quickly and receive care at home. The aim of providing the extra money, earmarked for social care, is to shorten hospital stays. To help achieve the aim, extra social care support will enable people to settle back into an independent life at home.
