Volunteering Opportunities within The Care Forum
Are you interested in Volunteering? If so we currently offer a range of volunteer roles here at The Care Forum. By becoming a volunteer for The Care Forum, you are helping a range of people.
You can:
- Help people speak up through our advocacy service.
- Help maintain our Well Aware database which provides a wealth of information on health and well being community resources.
- Help in assisting socially isolated individuals to access hobbies, social groups and bespoke community resources through our New Routes service.
We would not be able to provide these services without the hard work of our volunteers and we are fully committed to supporting our volunteers. Volunteers are an important part of The Care Forum and are vital to its development.
We hope you find the information here useful, but if after reading it you still have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Well Aware Database management and development
We manage a frequently updated database of national and local groups, services and organisations called Well Aware. We offer a range of services to meet the individual information needs of voluntary and statutory organisations. These range from data checking and the production of partial data sets to the licensing of full databases. We can also advise on data collection and management. We offer a helpline (freephone) 0808 808 5252 or email:info@wellaware.org.uk that enables members of the public to access the information on Well Aware direct.
Advocacy Services
Our advocacy services deliver an empowerment model of advocacy and provide issue based client-led support and assistance. We offer a widening range of services, from self-help, signposting, general help and advice through to full advocacy casework.
New Routes - Community Avenues to Wellbeing
New Routes encourages people to use local resources, connections, community groups and initiatives. The New Routes two-year pilot project is based in Keynsham and is being independently evaluated by the University of Bath. New Routes is all about ‘social prescribing'; it is a formal way of enabling primary care services to refer patients with social or emotional needs to a range of local non-clinical services and support. The New Routes co-ordinators signpost patients to services and support and can help them to become involved and try new things. Outcomes for people referred through these projects include decreased social isolation, enhanced self-esteem, opportunities for skill development, transferable skills and improved mental health and wellbeing. Social prescribing is especially useful for finding an alternative to the GP and thereby reducing the pressure currently placed on medical practitioners.
