South Gloucestershire Generic Advocacy

South Gloucestershire Generic Advocacy

This is a new service from 1st April 2011 and provides free, independent advocacy (subject to resources) around issues relating to social care.

Who can access our services?

Subject to resources we are able to offer an advocacy service to older people, people with physical and sensory impairments, people with learning difficulty, people with mental health issues, and carers who live in South Gloucestershire around issues relating to social care. We operate a system of prioritization so that we offer a service targeted to those people most in need.

What do we do?

We can offer different levels of support, including self advocacy, assisted information, general help, arms length support and advocacy casework. We use an empowerment model of advocacy that enables you to direct your own advocacy process. We use volunteers and a part-time paid advocate. We support you to look at different options and possible outcomes so that you can make informed choices about what action you can take.
