South Gloucestershire Independent Advisory Group: new community representatives needed

The group has an advisory role to South Gloucestershire Police on how they can best serve members of the community and under-represented groups within South Gloucestershire. The IAG aims to:

  • ·       Bring community concerns to police attention and give feedback to the community
  • ·       Ensure issues are addressed appropriately
  • ·       Advise on the police response to incidents
  • ·       Scrutinise police decisions
  • ·       Improve the quality of the police service delivered to people across South Gloucestershire.

The IAG is independent of the police. It is made up of representatives of the community and speaks for the community. Acting as a 'critical friend', the IAG supports the police in  making South Gloucestershire safer for all its residents and visitors. South Gloucestershire is a very safe place to live in, but to make it safer we need representatives from all groups, so that police can be informed of any injustice and incidents, for appropriate action to be taken. South Gloucestershire IAG would like representatives from all groups, particularly minority groups, so all voices can be heard. The IAG is one way in which you can indirectly inform the police of any form of crime or injustice that has been made against a member of your community. As a member of the IAG, you can be the spokesperson for your community or group.
If you would like to know more about the IAG and/or are interested in joining the group, contact the independent Chair, Amarjit Singh, amarjit.southglos.iag@gmail.com or Chief Superintendent Sarah Crew, South Gloucestershire Police Commander,
