This partnership will provide BAB Community Navigators to work across communities, providing one to one support for the loneliest older people in Bristol.
Community Navigator volunteers will provide older people with support to help them feel less lonely, healthier and happier. This will take the form of spending a few hours each week to visiting isolated older people over about three sessions.
Community Navigator volunteers will also explore with older people their interests and signpost to local activities and groups which they may find interesting. A vital part of this service is that Community Navigator volunteers will also join the older person at these events to start with to provide a bit of extra support.
If you are interested in getting involved as a Community Navigator Volunteer, please contact Greg to register your interest on 0117 900 2648 or email him at email@example.com. Training and support will be offered to help you in your role.
Voluntary Sector Service Development within the BAB Community Navigator Partnership
The Care Forum will be supporting voluntary sector services providing support to older people across East, Central and South Bristol, as a partner within the BAB Community Navigator scheme. The Voluntary Service Sector Development Officer will work with services and communities to increase the number of available activites and support for older people.
TCF can offer opportunities for local organisations to develop service provision within their communities by signposting to small funding grants to support expansion, training and equipment. The aim is for services to provide quality, appropriate and accessible support to older people across these areas. TCF will support the maintenance of the WellAware database, and ensure information is updated to support the work of the Community Navigator volunteers.
