Our Independent Mental Health Advocates (IMHAs) are available via spot purchase. The services is free to clients, confidential and independent.

We regularly provide a drop in service at the following facilities:

  • Riverside adolescent Unit, Blackberry Hill Hospital – alternate Wednesday and Thursday afternoons

Paid Representative

This service provides paid representatives for people who are under a DoLS authorisation, and who are eligible for a paid representative under the DoLS legislation as part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Referral information:

Complaints Procedure Advocacy

This service provides free, independent, confidential advocacy to people who want to complain about social care services provided by Bath and North East Somerset Council and Bristol City Council.

These services are funded by Bath and North East Somerset Council and Bristol City Council.

NHS Complaints Advocacy

This service provides free, independent advocacy to people who live in Bristol and want to make a complaint about an NHS Health Service.

The service can provide help and support for people to self-advocate, including the provision of self-help packs, up to full advocacy casework, dependent on the need of the individual and the demands on the service. Self-help packs are also available on TCF website.

AVoice

This service provides confidential and independent advocacy for people who have been a victim of crime or antisocial behaviour; are over 18; live in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset or South Gloucestershire; and:

  • Have learning difficulties, physical disabilities or issues with mental health,

Or

  • Have additional needs due to age, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion or belief.

This service is funded by Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner.

Spot Purchase

This service can provide advocacy that falls outside any commissioned service. It will always be a single piece of work, for an individual client and will be funded by a statutory service. This will be agreed on a case by case basis between the statutory service funding the work, and the Spot Purchase Senior Practitioner.
