Making every contact count
Making Every Contact Count is about how to effectively take the opportunity to help people – service users, our family, our friends and colleagues – improve their own health. It is about providing simple, brief lifestyle information and being able to signpost people to existing services where appropriate. It is not about adding to workloads. It is not about becoming experts in other services. MECC training will equip you with the skills to have a “healthy conversation” in order to support people and empower them to improve their own health and wellbeing, by making big or small lifestyle changes.Kate Blakley from Public Health will be on hand to brief the voluntary sector about MECC and answer any questions that people may have.
Connect 5/Suicide Prevention
Connect 5 is designed to increase the confidence and skills of front line staff so that they can be most effective in having conversations with the people they work with about mental health and wellbeing, and so help people to manage mental health problems and increase their resilience and mental wellbeing through positive changes. Helen Yeo from People and Communities will discuss the Connect 5 programme as well as the suicide prevention initiatives currently available in North Somerset.
