Bristol Autism Support (BAS) plans for 2020

Weekly Drop-ins
BAS will hold a weekly, term time drop-in advice and support session at the Bedminster Quaker Meeting House. These will take place on Wednesdays from 10am – 12pm, and will provide parents and carers with an opportunity to get very regular support with any concerns they have about their autistic child.

Weekly Activities
After their weekly drop-in sessions, from 12pm – 2pm, BAS will have a rotating schedule of activities including a craft group, help with benefits and EHCP forms, wellbeing activities and support from local professionals.

Coffee mornings
BAS will hold coffee mornings from 9.30am – 11am on the second Tuesday of each month at St Peter’s Church in Henleaze, and on the last Tuesday of the month at Cafe Des Amis, inside Easton Community Centre.

Evening meetings
The evening meeting will take place at the Bedminster Quaker Meeting House on the third Wednesday of each month from 8pm – 10pm. BAS will have guest speakers at some of our meetings and discussion topics at others.

Parent courses
BAS will continue to run our very popular What Do I Do Now? 6-week course for parents and carers new to autism. This will run three times in 2020, in February, June and November, at Knowle West Media Centre.

Family socials
In 2020 BAS will have a family social every other month. Family socials are held at the Bedminster Quaker Meeting House on Saturdays and feature a family activity or performer, plus toys and other activities. Two of the family socials will be ‘autism jams’ which will provide an opportunity for our children (and parents!) to perform in a casual, open mic format.
