South Gloucestershire Breastfeeding Support 2018 – 2020 – Expressions of Interest Invited

Breastfeeding support groups, facilitated by peer supporters in collaboration with midwives and health visitors and children centres, are well established in South Gloucestershire and available for all mothers to attend. The peer supporters who facilitate these weekly groups have been trained and receive on going supervision. One to one support tailored to individual mothers’ need have been developed in South Gloucestershire and ranges from information and advice provided by peer supporters in both the ante-natal and post-natal periods, Specialist help for mothers who wish to breastfeed but are experiencing some difficulty or challenge. This is currently provided by lactation consultant. Funding up to a maximum of £61,200 has been allocated to fund this service for two years from 1 April 2018.
