SEND Information Advice and Support Service Consultation

SEND Information Advice and Support Service Consultation

Bristol City Council has a duty under the Children and Families Act to provide advice and support to children and young people with special educational needs (SEND) and/or a disability and their parents or carers regarding their education, and any health or social care needs related to their education.

The advice must be impartial, confidential and accessible.

Currently Bristol City Council have a contract with Supportive Parents to provide this support and they run Bristol’s SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SENDIAS service).

Bristol City Council and Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group are going to re-commission Bristol’s SENDIAS service from 2019-2022 and intend to increase the budget for this service to £140,000.

This means Bristol City Council are currently looking at ways to make this service as good as it can be, to do this we want to get feedback from young people with SEND and/or disabilities, their parents and carers and professionals on how they would like this service to support them. We have an online survey where you can share your views, the survey will close on 8th January 2019: https://bristol.citizenspace.com/adults-children-and-education/sendias/
