Type 2 diabetes Peer Mentor Volunteer

Are you living with type 2 diabetes and want to help others? We need you!

Brigstowe are really excited to announce the relaunch of our type 2 diabetes Peer Support service, in partnership with Sirona, which was put on hold due to COVID-19. We are looking to recruit motivated volunteers living with type 2 diabetes in Bristol, South Glos or North Somerset area who can listen, share experiences and motivate other people living with type 2 diabetes.

As a peer mentor, you will receive full training and ongoing support, develop your knowledge of type 2 diabetes, be reimbursed expenses and meet other people living with type 2 diabetes. You don’t need to be an expert in diabetes and you don’t need to have the perfect lifestyle. If you have been living with type 2 diabetes, have struggled to understand the condition, had setbacks and obstacles that have caused you to struggle on the way, you are ideal for this project! Your personal experience in having had these problems makes you a great person to help someone else avoid those same issues. Still not sure, contact us and have a chat!

*Please note Due to COVID-19 restrictions and to keep all mentors and mentees safe you will be providing support digitally through online video chats which we will fully support you to do. Our aim is to also reintroduce in-person mentoring as soon as we can in line with government guidelines and our own risk assessment.
