Bristol: Mencap running workshops during May 2017

Mencap are running some workshops in the Bristol area over the next few weeks. The workshops are as follows;

Thursday 11 May – from 10am to 2pm – Changing Places Campaigning

We are trying to spread the word in the area about the need for more changing places, we are welcoming individuals who else feel this is a need and are interested in working with us to campaign in the area for more changing places facilities

Thursday 25 May – from 10am to 2pm – Know your Rights on Health

The idea of the health workshops are about knowing your rights and making sure reasonable adjustments are place in hospital. It is in preparation for Mencap’s health campaign due to be launched later this year. We want make sure people with learning disability get equal healthcare they deserve, one way by doing this is ensuring more reasonable adjustments are in place. The workshop will explore what this means and working with people with learning disabilities to find out what would work locally Lunch is provided at both of these workshops.

 

All workshops are being held at Hamilton House, 80 Stokes Croft, Avon, Bristol, BS1 3QY. If you or any of your group/contacts are interested in attending one or both of these workshops, then let me know and we will get you along to join us. Please note that each of the workshops have space for 30 people and we are reserving spaces on a first come first serve basis. It is our hope that further workshops and volunteering opportunities will be developed following these initial tasters and that we can start to get exciting things moving in and around the area of Bristol.
