New support group for people with arthritis launches in Bristol

Shana Muir, 24, was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when she was 19 and, after being disappointed in her search for support groups in Bristol, decided to set one up herself. Shana has worked with staff at Arthritis Research UK to create a group to welcome all people living with arthritis, and will particularly aim to reach young adults who are in their twenties and thirties.

The group will provide information and support for people with arthritis. Activities at meetings will include:

  • Exercise taster sessions including yoga and tai chi
  • Guest speakers talking about a range of subjects, including mental health and living with chronic pain
  • Peer support

The first meeting was be on 28 March, from 1pm – 3pm at St Paul’s Learning Centre, 94 Grosvenor Road, Bristol, BS2 8XJ and the group will now meet once a month.
