Home safety assessment and modification project launched

WE Care & Repair are currently running a Home Safety Assessment and Modification (HSAM) falls project which will involve a qualified Occupational Therapist going to a person’s home to complete an occupational therapy holistic assessment and make recommendations to reduce the risk of falls or for those people who haven’t fallen but have a fear of doing so.  It is a timely service, so we aim to get out quickly following receipt of a referral. Minor adaptations or equipment up to around £200 can be provided.  The intervention is then reviewed to establish whether we have been successful in reducing the perceived risk of falling.  Our project is being evaluated by Sheila Mackintosh from UWE to prove (or otherwise) its effectiveness.
