Message from NIHR CLAHRC West*
- We are looking for people with experience of public involvement and some understanding of health and social care systems. Experience of any condition as a patient, service user, family member or carer will be needed, and relevant experience might also include working with user-led or voluntary organisations with a focus on health and social care issues.
- The opportunity is to join a new involvement panel that will help researchers think about public and patient perspectives on projects focused on system wide issues in health and social care, rather than on particular health conditions and treatments. For example, this includes work to reduce unnecessary medical investigations or treatments and projects to improve patient safety.
- The role is to act as a ‘critical friend’ and provide a thoughtful and informed public perspective.
An induction and selection session for the role will be held on Tuesday 28th February 2017 from 5.30-7.30 pm in central Bristol. Working on the panel will mean coming to meetings in the early evening about 4-6 times a year. Public contributors will be offered payment and expenses for their work.
Anyone interested should contact Kim Thomas on kim.thomas@nihr.ac.uk . Kim will send out more information including a role description and short application form. Completed applications need to be in by Thursday 16th February 2017.
