Self isolation and fit notes

Isolation fit notes to provide to your employer beyond the first seven days of self isolation can now be obtained online by visiting https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/ or https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 Guidance on this can be found here

The government website states: For the first seven days off work, employees can self-certify so they don’t need any evidence for their employer. After that, employers may ask for evidence of sickness absence. Where this is related to having symptoms of coronavirus or living with someone who has symptoms, the isolation note can be used to provide evidence of the advice to self-isolate.

Ibuprofen and COVID 19

According to the NHS “there is currently no strong evidence that ibuprofen can make coronavirus (Covid-19) worse, until we have more information take paracetamol to treat the symptoms of coronavirus, unless your doctor has told you paracetamol is not suitable for you.”

The BBC state that “Those already taking ibuprofen for other conditions should not stop without consulting a doctor, though.”

NHS Steps to protect yourself

The best way to protect yourself and help prevent infection is to:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Use tissues to catch coughs and sneezes, then put them in the bin and wash your hands
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water
