WHAT’S THE COURSE ABOUT?

1 in 2 people will develop cancer in their lifetime. At Cancer Research UK we think it’s essential for all health professionals to feel confident and well-equipped to talk openly with patients and clients about spotting cancer signs and symptoms early, and lifestyle-related risk factors. Knowing what to say and how to say it can make a real difference.  Join thousands of people worldwide to learn practical skills for having conversations that could help save lives. Watch the course trailer to find out more.

Talking About Cancer is led by our expert trainers Gwen Kaplan and Gill Kilgour, drawing on their years of experience as nurses. You’ll learn through quizzes, articles, interactive discussion and video scenarios demonstrating conversational dos and don’ts. Here’s what previous participants have said about how it’s benefitted them:

“I believe passionately that a course like this, that encourages people to be open about health issues and points the way to reliable resources, can save lives” – Barbara, participant

“I have found this training really useful as it has highlights the key skills of active listening, always focusing on the patient, alongside acknowledging how difficult some of these conversations can feel…an interesting, engaging and evidenced based training course that is relevant to many health professionals and others supporting people with health issues” – health professional
