Pre-employment/confidence-building course

We are announcing the dates for our LAST 5-week pre-employment/confidence-building course, Better Together. We have been lucky enough that Burges Salmon are kindly letting us use their offices AND providing our participants with free lunch and refreshments!

The course will be every Monday from the 17th of June until the 15th of July, from 10am until 2pm.

Eligibility criteria: 19+, Bristol resident, identifies as disabled or as having a long-term health condition (this is wide and includes mental health difficulties, dyslexia, dyspraxia etc).

Target audience: people who need to get used to going somewhere every week in a low-key way, people who would benefit from doing training but who are scared of being in a group, people who lack self-confidence, people who need some help with finding out their strengths.

Objectives of the course: during the course we look at how to improve our well-being, discover our strengths, reasonable adjustments in the workplace, and offer a safe place to talk about disability / health conditions with people who will understand. There is also an element of peer support, IT skills, and the course is flexible to accommodate participants’ wishes and what they need.

Next steps: participants have reported increased levels of confidence and feeling more comfortable in a group setting. A high proportion of participants have gone on to do our longer employment course, Working Together, where people look at CVs, mock interviews and tackle job searching in a more tangible way.
