Residents in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire are being asked to give their views on evening and weekend GP appointments to help develop services in the future.
Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) wants to find out what people think about ‘GP Improved Access’ across the area through a short survey with responses being used to inform potential changes to the way the service is offered.
The current ‘GP Improved Access’ service allows patients in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire to book evening and weekend appointments with a GP, practice nurse or other health professional.
Dr Martin Jones, GP and Medical Director at the CCG, explained: “Through the current GP Improved Access Service, appointments are available seven days a week, including bank holidays and can be booked by calling your GP Practice.
“The appointments provided during evenings and weekends are in addition to the current opening times at your GP practice.
“We want to hear your views about the service and how you access appointments on evenings and weekends. The results of the survey are important as they will help us to inform the development of the service in the future.”
David Moss, Head of Primary Care Contracts for the CCG, said: “We are committed to improving access to primary care services so that patients can see the right healthcare professional at the right time, including evenings and weekends.
“We want to ensure the service we deliver meets the needs of our population and are asking patients to complete this survey to give us their views.”
