Bristol City Council – Rough Sleeping/Vehicle Dwelling Consultation

Bristol City Council – Rough Sleeping/Vehicle Dwelling Consultation

At the end of June we launched a consultation on two important policies – asking for feedback on our approach to rough sleeping encampments and separately our approach to vehicle dwelling encampments.

The consultation closes on Sunday 26 August and we would be very grateful for any support you can give to help us promote it over the next three weeks. We have attached a toolkit which includes further information and resources to help you publicise the consultation through your networks.

Whilst we are consulting on the policies at the same time, our approach is different for people sleeping rough than it is for those living in vehicles recognising that their situations are often complex and very different to each other. There are also very different circumstances for individuals within these groupings and the policies reflect this.

Our aim for rough sleeping is to get people off the street as quickly as possible, assess their needs and help provide the necessary support. You can find the consultation at www.bristol.gov.uk/roughsleeping

Our aim for vehicle dwelling is to ensure a measured approach, demonstrating tolerance whilst also being willing to take action when needed. You can find the consultation at www.bristol.gov.uk/vehicledwelling
